Writing English Essay - Tips For Planning Your Writing

Writing English Essay - Tips For Planning Your WritingBefore starting on a writing English essay, you should spend a little time on planning. The essay is a long document that contains thoughts, concepts and ideas, along with the style and tone that are unique to an author. Here are some tips to follow when it comes to planning and preparing an essay.* The first thing you should do is to write out an outline of the essay. A well-written outline will give the reader an idea of the format of the piece. You can start this at the beginning or at the end of the original paper. Either way, outlining is important to make sure the content flows well from paragraph to paragraph.* The next step in the process is to format your notes and to arrange them according to the topic. Some people like to list the major points and introduce each one in its own paragraph. You can also put the main idea of the essay and then talk about supporting information that supports it. Other people prefer to write down the major point and then move on to supporting information and their relevance. No matter what you choose, the format of the essay must be consistent throughout.* Be careful not to be too fancy. It is good to use a bit of creativity but remember the purpose of your essay is to present an overview of a particular topic or problem. If your essay is too serious, it will lack interest and your reader will go away and seek more information on that topic.* Start by identifying the main ideas and then put them in the order of their importance. This step allows you to create a hierarchy of the things that you need to cover in your essay. You should start with an introduction that establishes your point. It can be a paragraph or a section of the essay, or it can be a full essay. Then you can move on to a conclusion which discusses all the material covered in the introduction.* When you are beginning your outline, take out your main points and organize them in a logical order. You can th en move on to sections to help identify your ideas.* When it comes to organizing your essay, you may want to create separate headings for the most significant points. For instance, you might think the most important thing is the first paragraph, but you may want to start with paragraph two which provides more information on why the problem exists and how it will be solved.* You can also present different perspectives or views on a subject or topic. For example, you might want to present an essay in which two or three different viewpoints are presented, but you want to start at the beginning so you can introduce them in the opening paragraph. Once you have finished the introduction and the body of the essay, you can move on to the next viewpoint.
